Concert cancelled after attempted murder claim

A classical violinist who claims to have been drugged by a transsexual prostitute, causing him to break into a stranger’s hotel room “wild-eyed and naked” and throttle her, is at the centre of an uproar over a cancelled concert at Wigmore Hall in the west end of London.

Walter Weller dies aged 75

The violinist and conductor Walter Weller has died at the age of 75. He joined the Vienna Philharmonic at the age of 17 and when 22 he was appointed joint-concertmaster alongside Willi Boskovsky.

Andris Nelsons will this week conduct his final concerts in Birmingham as music director of the CBSO, ahead of his move to Boston.
