Isata Kanneh-Mason tops UK classical chart

Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason has debuted at the top of the UK Official Classical Artist Chart with her album ‘Romance’. Kanneh-Mason collaborated with conductor Holly Mathieson, violinist Elena Urioste and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to record selected works by composer Clara Schumann for the album, which marks the 200th anniversary of Schumann’s birth. The record is the first ever Clara Schumann record to chart at No. 1 in the Classical Artist chart.

Brass Bands England Youth Championship 2020 Test Announced

The test-piece for the Championship Section of the 2020 National Youth Brass Band Championships has been announced by Brass Bands England (BBE) as ‘Saint-Saëns Variations’ by Philip Sparke, which was originally composed for the fourth section of the 2010 Regional Championships. The event will be held on 28 March at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Sheffield, with the format remaining the same as what was implemented at this year’s competition, which was held at Warwick School in March.

GEMA läutet Nominierungsphase für Musikautorenpreis 2020 ein

Der Deutsche Musikautorenpreis geht 2020 in die zwölfte Runde. Die Initiatoren der GEMA halten dabei am zeitlichen Rahmen und am Veranstaltungsort fest, zudem fällt nun der Startschuss für die Bewerbungsphase. Der Deutsche Musikautorenpreis geht 2020 in die zwölfte Runde und soll am 12. März in Berlin verliehen werden. Die Initiatoren der GEMA halten dabei am zeitlichen Rahmen und am Veranstaltungsort fest: So findet die Verleihung erneut an einem Donnerstag Mitte März und im Ritz Carlton in Berlin statt.

GEMA launches nomination phase for music author prize 2020

The initiators of the GEMA will stick to the time frame and the venue, and the starting signal will now be given for the application phase. The German Music Authors’ Prize will enter its twelfth round in 2020 and will be awarded in Berlin on 12 March. The initiators of GEMA will stick to the time frame and the venue: the award ceremony will once again take place on a Thursday in mid-March and at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin.
