“Il Trovatore” in a nutshell: new episode of the ZDF cultural series “Opera for the impatient” with Moritz Eggert
A gypsy woman allegedly enchanted the brother of a count and is executed for it. Her daughter kidnaps the count’s brother to kill him in revenge, but accidentally kills her own son. With these entanglements one is right in the middle of Verdi’s opera “Il Trovatore”. Moritz Eggert summarizes them in the new episode of “Oper für Impgeduldige”, which is available on zdfkultur.de. He exposes the supposedly tragic material as a firework of comedy and sums up the “Troubadour” in just two and a half minutes.
