BACKJoshua Bell extends contract as ASMF music director
The Academy of St Martin in the Fields has extended music director Joshua Bell’s contract until 2023. Succeeding academy founder Sir Neville Marriner, Bell has held the position with the London-based chamber orchestra since 2011. His first collaboration with the Academy took place in 1998, on his first concerto recordings of Bruch and Mendelssohn conducted by Marriner, kicking off his long-standing relationship with the orchestra. ‘Since the start of my tenure in 2011, the Academy has been my musical family, and each time we see each other it feels like both a homecoming and the start of a new adventure,’ Bell comments. ‘I’m already looking forward to many more exciting concerts and tours around the world with this incredible orchestra.’

Hiermit veröffentlicht der Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik die vierte Bestenliste des Jahres 2019. Die zur Zeit 154 Kritiker-Juroren des PdSK, aufgeteilt in 32 Fach-Jurys, haben alle Neuveröffentlichungen des Tonträgermarktes aus dem letzten Quartal gesichtet und 218 Titel auf die Longlist gesetzt. Der „Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik“ e.V. ist ein unabhängiger Zusammenschluss von deutschsprachigen Kritikern. Der Verein ist als gemeinnützig anerkannt, er finanziert sich durch Spenden und freut sich über jegliche Unterstützung. Der PdSK wird gefördert durch die Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien sowie von der Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten (GVL).

Herewith the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik publishes the fourth best list of the year 2019. The currently 154 critics’ jurors of the PdSK, divided into 32 expert juries, have reviewed all new releases of the recording market from the last quarter and placed 218 titles on the longlist. Kanye West se met à l’opéra avec “Nebuchadnezzar” annoncé la semaine prochaine à Los Angeles
Le rappeur américain Kanye West a annoncé élargir son répertoire musical à l’opéra avec la création d’une production intitulée Nebuchadnezzar et qui sera présentée le 24 novembre au Hollywood Bowl de Los Angeles (Etats-Unis). La salle californienne a annoncé que les billets seraient mis en vente lundi 18 novembre. Kanye West a tweeté ce week-end une illustration annonçant la nouvelle production, mettant à l’affiche la chorale “Sunday Service”, avec qui le chanteur de Chicago a multiplié les services religieux cette année. L’opéra sera dirigé par l’artiste italienne Vanessa Beecroft, un temps le bras droit de Kanye West sur sa marque Yeezy. Le titre de l’opéra fait référence au babylonien Nabuchodonosor, auquel Kanye West s’est comparé dans une récente interview, assurant que comme lui, ce roi antique avait souffert de bipolarité.

American rapper Kanye West has announced that he will expand his musical repertoire to opera with the creation of a production entitled Nebuchadnezzar, which will be presented on November 24 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (USA). The Californian venue announced that tickets will go on sale on Monday, November 18. Kanye West tweeted this weekend an illustration announcing the new production, featuring the “Sunday Service” choir, with whom the Chicago singer has held many religious services this year. The opera will be directed by the Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft, for a time Kanye West’s right-hand man on her brand Yeezy. The title of the opera refers to the Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar, to whom Kanye West compared himself in a recent interview, assuring that like him, this ancient king had suffered from bipolarity.
