Leeds Competition announces Virtual First Round shortlist

The Leeds International Piano Competition has selected 63 pianists from 28 countries to take part in this year’s Virtual First Round, which will be held in cities around the world from 6 to 10 April 2021.

The competition’s pre-selection jury, chaired by artistic director Adam Gatehouse, listened to 264 applicants – a 43 per cent increase in applications since the previous competition in 2018. Four British nationals have been selected as well as competitors from Morocco, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Iran, Israel and Peru.

Ultraschall Berlin 2021 – Festival für neue Musik: Festivalabschluss eines bemerkenswerten Radiofestivaljahrgangs

Am gestrigen Sonntagabend fand der 23. Jahrgang von „Ultraschall Berlin“ mit der Ausstrahlung einer Konzertaufzeichnung aus dem Heimathafen Neukölln mit dem Trio Catch sowie zwei Studioproduktionen für das Festival mit dem Ensemble Experimental und der Cellistin Séverine Ballon seinen Abschluss.

Seit Mittwoch standen bei „Ultraschall Berlin“ Kammer- und Ensemblekonzerte sowie solistische Auftritte im Mittelpunkt und waren im Programm von Deutschlandfunk Kultur und rbbKultur zu hören.

Ultraschall Berlin 2021 – Festival for New Music: Festival finale of a remarkable radio festival year

Yesterday, Sunday evening, the 23rd year of “Ultraschall Berlin” came to a close with the broadcast of a concert recording from the Heimathafen Neukölln with the Trio Catch as well as two studio productions for the festival with the Ensemble Experimental and the cellist Séverine Ballon.

Since Wednesday, “Ultraschall Berlin” has focused on chamber and ensemble concerts as well as solo performances and could be heard in the programme of Deutschlandfunk Kultur and rbbKultur.

Cecilia Bartoli, Martha Argerich et Daniel Barenboim au programme d’une Semaine Mozart digitale

Rolando Villazon avait annoncé réfléchir à une diffusion numérique de certaines représentations initialement prévues pour l’édition 2021 de la Semaine Mozart de Salzbourg annulée en raison de la crise sanitaire. Ce week-end, le directeur artistique de l’événement a présenté la dizaine de spectacles qui seront diffusés en ligne du 27 au 31 janvier.

Cecilia Bartoli, Martha Argerich and Daniel Barenboim on the programme of a Digital Mozart Week

Rolando Villazon had announced that he was considering a digital broadcast of some of the performances originally planned for the 2021 Salzburg Mozart Week, which had been cancelled due to the health crisis. This weekend, the artistic director of the event presented the ten or so performances that will be broadcast online from 27 to 31 January.

The 2021 Mozart Week was to celebrate the 265th anniversary of the Austrian composer’s birth.
