Lionel Bringuier announces first season with Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich

Monday 31st March 2014

Lionel Bringuier is the Chief Conductor designate of the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich. Today he announced his first season with the orchestra. During the season, Bringuier will be joined by Artist in Residence Yuja Wang, and Esa-Pekka Salonen will assume the newly created role of Creative Chair, composing a new work that will be premiered by Lionel and the orchestra at the 14/15 season opening concert in September.

A highlight of the first season will be a tour of France, Germany and Austria, on which Lionel, Yuja and the orchestra will perform works by Prokofiev, Mussorgsky, Stravinsky, Ravel and Salonen.

“It is important for me to welcome a new, young audience and also not to hold back from including contemporary repertoire in our programmes”, said Bringuier and throughout the 14/15 season he will conduct a diverse range of repertoire as well as two tonhalleLATE events.
