Mahler with a difference – mini-Mahler No. 4

Friday 27th May 2011

mini-Mahler’s most recent concert, mini-Mahler No. 4, took place in the Berlin Philharmonie last Wednesday, with stunning performances of chamber arrangements of works by Debussy, Reger and Mahler. Versatile young conductor Joolz Gale led the ensemble, and renowned mezzo-soprano Daniela Lehner appeared as the soloist in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde. We’ve included a review from the Berliner Zeitung below and you can also read it by visiting the Berliner Zeitung’s website.

mini-Mahler is an innovative ensemble, bringing together Berlin’s finest young soloists to rediscover Mahler through a chamber ensemble perspective. The ensemble’s repertoire focuses on the relationship between Mahler and 1920s Vienna, including Schoenberg’s Private Music Society and the music of the Second Viennese School.

The WildKat PR German office worked hard over the past four mini-Mahler concerts to promote and establish the innovative ensemble. The next mini-Mahler concert is coming up in June 2011 with a programme of Mahler, Schoenberg and Berg, so visit the mini-Mahler Facebook page for updates as they happen!
