Die norwegisch-russische Pianistin Natalia Strelchenko ist mutmaßlich Opfer eines Gewaltverbrechens geworden. Die Musikerin war am vergangenen Wochenende mit schweren Kopf- und Halsverletzungen in ihrem Haus in Manchester gefunden worden.

Nikolaus Lehnhoff, a German opera director who staged “Salome” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Wagner’s “Ring” cycle in San Francisco in the 1980s, but who was best known for his productions in Europe, died on Aug. 22 at his home in Berlin. He was 76.
