Olivia Salvadori and Sandro Mussida – Dare Voce

Friday 9th December 2016

Singer Olivia Salvadori and composer Sandro Mussida have released their new album Dare Voce on Sony Classical.

Olivia Salvadori is a classically-trained soprano, an operatic solo performer, and an experimental recording artist. She is particularly interested in approaching the voice as a raw material. Sandro Mussida is a cellist, composer and electronic producer. His work investigates the consequences of compositional choices on musical matte,r and explores the interaction between acoustic, classical, electric and electronic fields.

Dare Voce is the result of a ten-year long exploration of the voice. Using the song form, it unites European, Latin American, African, classical, acoustic and electronic musical styles. The Italian musicians create worlds of endless possibilities and no restrictions – solid classical roots entwine with more contemporary styles, creating new sound combinations.

The album is a brief anthology of short stories, and takes the listener on a journey through different languages, compositional techniques, orchestrations, and recording processes. Olivia’s deep and powerful lyrical voice is complimented by a classically-influenced electronic soundscape.

Olivia and Sandro have also collaborated with several international artists, including UK-based artist & electronic musician Mark Fell, Australian musician Oren Ambarchi, Berlin-based Hungarian-American saxophonist, lyricist, avant-garde musician and experimental composer Andre Vida, and US drummer, composer, songwriter, improviser and writer John Colpitts aka Kid Millions.
