UK orchestra audiences up by 16% since 2010

Audiences for orchestras in the UK have grown by 16% since 2010 with over 4.5m people now attending an orchestral concert every year, according to a new report by the Association of British Orchestras.

London Mozart Players to lose managing director and become player-run

Chamber orchestra the London Mozart Players has announced that it is to become a player-run organisation, with its current managing director, Simon Funnell, to leave at the end of March 2014. The move is the result of ‘a major funding problem’ which, says a statement released by the orchestra, ‘necessitated a re-evaluation of the way in which the management of the orchestra operates’.

ABO/Rhinegold Award winners named

The winners have been announced for the Association of British Orchestras/Rhinegold Awards 2014, presented at LSO St Luke’s on 29 January as part of the ABO annual conference.


BBC Radio 3 to clear the schedule for Ravel
