PRS for Music Foundation, Britain’s leading funder of music across all genres, today has announced an exciting new opportunity for cross-border musical collaboration within the UK. The scheme, Beyond Borders, supports the creation of high-quality new music which is jointly commissioned by at least two organisations from different UK countries. From Monday, 28^th November, applications will be accepted from music creators, performers and commissioning organisations.

The scheme has already overseen several highly successful collaborations, including:

Award-winning Scottish folk trio Lau working with Northern Irish composer Brian Irvine and the Northern Sinfonia to create ‘Strange Attractors’, commissioned by The Sage, Gateshead, Belfast Festival and Celtic Connections.

English composer Luke Bedford, commissioned by The Opera Group, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and The Tramway (Glasgow) to write ‘Seven Angels’, described by the Daily Telegraph as “impeccably crafted”.

Belfast DJ Phil Kieran collaborating with Swansea psyche-rockers White Noise Sound to create a collection of new songs, commissioned by Oh Yeah Music Centre (Belfast), Swansea Creative Hub and the Welsh Music Foundation.
