Psappha presents nine world premieres in 2019/20 season

Manchester-based ensemble Psappha has announced its 2019/20 season, featuring nine world premieres performed over six concerts. The 2019/20 season, beginning on 26 September 2019, is designed to open up the experience of contemporary music to a wider audience. The ensemble will work with Professor Douglas Jarman (author of ‘The Music of Alban Berg’) to create films which will be screened before each concert, revealing more of the context, relevance and history around the featured pieces.

Report: Spotify testing price increases

Spotify is testing to see whether it can raises premium subscription prices around the world. According to Bloomberg, Spotify will raise the price of its family plan in Scandinavia by around 13%. Spotify has not commented and there has been no announcement of the increase. It remains to be seen if the increase would be permanent and whether it will be isolated to one territory. The current family plan costs £14.99 a month and lets up to five people use the service. Spotify has also tested a Premium Duo plan that allows two subscriptions for €12.49 (£11.42).

Studie: 63 Prozent der Menschen hören Klassik zur Entspannung

Die Studie „The Classical Music Market – Streaming’s Next Genre?“, die der Medienforschungs- und Analysedienst MIDiA Research im Auftrag von IDAGIO, dem führenden Streaming-Anbieter für klassische Musik, durchgeführt und veröffentlicht hat, zeigt: immer mehr Menschen hören klassische Musik – auch zur Entspannung. Jeder fünfte Verbraucher in den analysierten Märkten, darunter Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz, hört regelmäßig Klassik und 63 Prozent der befragten Klassik-Fans geben an, klassische Musik zu hören, um zu entspannen.

Study: 63 percent of people listen to classical music for relaxation

For many people, the summer holidays mean the long-awaited time out from the hectic everyday life and the possibility to switch off. The study “The Classical Music Market – Streaming’s Next Genre?”, conducted and published by the media research and analysis service MIDiA Research on behalf of IDAGIO, the leading streaming provider for classical music, shows that more and more people are listening to classical music – also for relaxation. Every fifth consumer in the analysed markets, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, regularly listens to classical music and 63 percent of the classical music fans surveyed say they listen to classical music in order to relax.
