Renowned violinist ordered by court to pay ex-pupil in £80k Landolfi violin dispute

A music teacher has won a court battle against her former violin professor, over an 18th-century Landolfi violin she sold him in 2016.

As a student in 2015, Ruzica West needed medical treatment but had fallen into financial difficulties, so decided to sell her instrument. She turned to her trusted former tutor at the Purcell School in Hertfordshire, renowned violinist Mateja Marinkovic, who allegedly offered her £40,000 for the instrument, plus £20,000 for her prized bow.

Stufenplan holt Kultur aus dem Lockdown – Museen fürchten Sparpolitik

Die Kulturszene steckt im Corona-Lockdown fest. Für die Rückkehr in Museen und Theater haben die Kulturminister nun ein Szenario erarbeitet. Doch mit der Öffnung droht schon die nächste Krise.

Museen zusammen mit Einzelhandel, Theater mit den Kneipen – über einen drei Stufen umfassenden Plan wollen die Bundesländer «Kultur wieder ermöglichen». In einem gemeinsamen Papier skizzieren die Kulturministerinnen und -minister, wie die Kulturszene und ihre Einrichtungen sich nach einem Ende des Corona-Lockdowns wieder einem Alltag nähern könnten.

Step-by-step-plan gets culture out of lockdown – museums fear austerity policy

The cultural scene is stuck in the Coronavirus lockdown. The Ministers of Culture have now mapped out a scenario for the return of museums and theatres. But with the opening, the next crisis is already looming.

Museums together with retail, theatres with the pubs – the federal states want to “make culture possible again” via a three-stage plan. In a joint paper, the Culture Ministers outline how the cultural scene and its institutions could approach a daily routine again after the end of the lockdown.

Décès de Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, directeur de l’Opéra Royal de Wallonie

Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera est décédé le 7 février nous apprend Le Soir. Directeur général et artistique de l’Opéra Royal de Wallonie depuis 2007, il devait passer la main à l’été 2022. Stefano Mazzonis avait été fait Citoyen d’honneur de la Ville de Liège en reconnaissance de « l’excellence du travail accompli », indique Willy Demeyer, bourgmestre de Liège et Président du Conseil d’Administration de l’Opéra.

Né en 1949 à Rome, juriste de formation, Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera était aussi metteur en scène : La Bohème en ouverture de cette saison liégeoise, Madama Butterfly, Anna Bolena, Aida, Macbeth…

Death of Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, Director of the Royal Opera of Wallonia

Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera passed away on 7th February. General and Artistic Director of the Royal Opera of Wallonia since 2007, he was due to pass away in the summer of 2022. Stefano Mazzonis had been made Honorary Citizen of the City of Liège in recognition of “the excellence of the work accomplished”, says Willy Demeyer, Mayor of Liège and President of the Opera’s Board of Directors.

Born in 1949 in Rome, a lawyer by training, Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera was also a director: La Bohème as the opening of this Liège season, Madama Butterfly, Anna Bolena, Aida, Macbeth…
