Streetwise Opera, an opera company empowering people who have experienced homelessness, appoints WildKat’s Managing Director, Olivia Brown, to its Board of Trustees.
Streetwise Opera runs a programme of singing and creative workshops in London, Manchester and Nottingham, helping people who have experienced homelessness improve their wellbeing and rebuild their social networks. On the 18th July, Streetwise Opera welcomed WildKat PR’s Managing Director, Olivia Brown, to its board.
Olivia Brown became Managing Director at WildKat in 2020 and now manages the agency’s five offices internationally. Olivia has worked in PR and Marketing for clients such as the Verbier Festival, Tête à Tête, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Concours de Genève, VOCES8 and the Kathleen Ferrier Awards. Olivia has also maintained a strong connection with music and arts education; holding a position on the University of Leeds School of Music’s Industrial Advisory Board, mentoring students and alumna on careers in the arts and giving lectures and seminars, most notably at the Royal College of Music.
Olivia first discovered Streetwise Opera in 2015, when they collaborated with Tête à Tête. She has since followed them closely, and witnessed the life-changing work they do to empower people who have experienced homelessness.
Speaking on why she wanted to get involved with Streetwise Opera, Olivia said that ‘Along with my fellow Trutees, I share a passion for helping the most vulnerable in our society and a strong belief in the transformative power of the performing arts to inspire real change‘. Olivia witnessed Streetwise Opera’s brilliant work most recently at a performance of Re:sound at the Southbank Centre, where ‘hearing the stories of the performers and seeing their joy and passion for singing, on one of London’s top classical stages, was a truly memorable moment‘.
Olivia hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the Board: ‘having worked at Wildkat (a communications agency for the performing arts) for over 10 years, I hope to bring a fresh perspective by drawing on observations and ideas not only from within the UK, but via our work in Paris, Berlin and New York‘.
Olivia looks forward to working with the Streetwise Opera team and the Board of trustees to continue its success in the future.
