Tchaikovsky Competition 2019 Piano Finalists Announced!

The finalists of the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition have been revealed. The mostly hotly viewed category, the piano, once again had a surprise up its sleeve. Instead of a final half dozen competitors, the jury, chaired by Denis Matsuev, have put forward seven players.

The following young artists will compete in the Concerto Round, starting on Tuesday 25 July:

Dmitriy Shishkin (Russia)
An Tianxu (China)
Alexey Melnikov (Russia)
Alexandre Kantorow (France)
Mao Fujita (Japan)
Kenneth Broberg (USA)

PRS Foundation Extends Keychange Pledge

More than 250 music organisations have committed to the Keychange 50/50 pledge following PRS Foundation’s extension of the initiative to any music organisation.

Conservatories, orchestras, broadcasters, concert halls, agents, labels and venues can now sign up to the pledge to take positive action towards gender parity. The latest signatories include English National Opera, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Southbank Centre, Bella Union, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, De Doelen, Sage Gateshead, Ivors Academy, Uppsala Konsert & Kongress and the Barbican.

Mariss Jansons Cancela Su Agenda Desde Junio Hasta Agosto, Por Razones De Reposo

Tal y como informa la Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, de la que es titular, el maestro letón Mariss Jansons debe tomarse un reposo de al menos tres meses, durante el presente verano, dada su mermada salud. Esto le obliga a cancelar por el momento sus compromisos durante los meses de junio, julio y agosto. Este parón afecta a los conciertos que Jansons tenía previsto dirigir con la BRSO en Múnich, Ingolstad (Audi Summer Concerts), Riga (Riga Jurmala Music Festival), Lübeck (Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival), Redefin (Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), Londres (BBC Proms) y Salzburgo (Salzburger Festspiele). Tres batutas se ocuparán de estos conciertos, a saber, Daniel Harding, Susanna Mälkki y Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Mariss Jansons cancels his schedule from June to August, in order to rest

As reported by the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, of which he is the conductor, the Latvian master Mariss Jansons has been ordered to rest for at least three months, during this summer, given his poor health. This obliges him to cancel his commitments for the time being during the months of June, July and August. This standstill affects the concerts that Jansons had planned to conduct with BRSO in Munich, Ingolstad (Audi Summer Concerts), Riga (Riga Jurmala Music Festival), Lübeck (Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival), Redefin (Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), London (BBC Proms) and Salzburg (Salzburger Festspiele). The conductors who will now be in charge of these concerts are Daniel Harding, Susanna Mälkki and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
