WildKat PR welcomes These New Puritans

Friday 31st May 2013

WildKat PR is pleased to welcome classical music-infused band These New Puritans as a new client to the roster.

Formed in the mid 2000s by twins Jack and George Barnett and friend Thomas Hein, These New Puritans has enjoyed accumulated success. Their debut disc Beat Pyramid, described as ‘utterly engrossing and essential’ by The Observer, was released in 2008 to great acclaim. This success was followed by second release Hidden in 2010, of which was recreated in a series of live shows, aptly named Hidden Live, at various venues including the Barbican Centre in London and Pompidou Centre in Paris, in late 2010 and 2011.

Their new album, Field of Reeds will be their first disc with label Infectious Music and will be released on 10th June 2013. It was recorded in a series of intensive sessions between April and November 2012, with the first taking place at Studio P4 Funkhaus Nalepastraße in Berlin, followed by sessions in London and the West Country.

Notably, most sounds recorded remain in a raw state: an unedited source of sound. This is commonplace in live classical recordings, but a rarity in the rock and pop world. Of this, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jack Barnett said, “I like the sense with this music that you are surrounded by people playing instruments. You can hear someone move or breathe before they begin playing.”

Classical music yields a firm inspiration for this disc, with Barnett citing Bela Bartók and Igor Stravinsky as amongst those he was listening to during the creation process of Field of Reeds.

Field of Reeds will be released on 2×12” vinyl, CD and digital download on 10th June, with an upcoming performance at Heaven in London on 17th June.

WildKat PR will be working with These New Puritans on their press and projects in the UK and across Europe.
