‘Transcendence’ – the new album from Jean Muller is released today

Monday 24th February 2014

Luxembourgian pianist Jean Miller’s new album Transcendence was released today.

Transcendence continues in the spirit of Chopin Recital, Muller’s 2013 album which received numerous awards including Gramophone’s ‘Critc Choice Award’ and Deutschlandradio Kultur’s ‘CD of the week.’ Muller has long been fascinated by Franz Liszt and Transcendence communicates the composer’s work in all its facets. For Muller, who has recorded the famous Piano Sonata in B Minor twice, as well as numerous other Liszt pieces, Transcendence represents the culmination of 20 years of studying and performing Liszt’s music.

In addition to his perfect mastery of technique, Muller develops an interpretation full of intensity and drama. The mixture of authenticity and originality makes the listener almost believe that Liszt himself is playing the piano. A particular highlight is Muller’s version of the Mephisto Waltz’ No. 1, performed in memoriam of the legendary American pianist Vladimir Horowitz, who died 25 years ago.

Transcendence is now available on iTunes. For more information, see Jean Muller’s official website.
