UK Music CEO urges Boris Johnson to avoid ‘cliff-edge’ Brexit

UK Music CEO Michael Dugher has delivered a warning on a “cliff-edge” Brexit, as Boris Johnson prepares to enter Downing Street as PM. In a keynote speech at the Musicians’ Union conference in Brighton yesterday (July 23), Dugher outlined the areas where Johnson should act to safeguard the music industry, which contributes £4.5 billion a year to the UK economy. Dugher praised Johnson’s work as Mayor of London, when he established the Music Venue Taskforce, which paved the way for the “pioneering” London Music Board.

Warner Classics launches new website

Warner Classics has launched an entirely new version of its website, featuring a digitised collection of the label’s catalogue and a custom-built streaming player. Due to the shift in the listening behaviour of classical music fans in recent years, Warner Classics is hoping to accommodate the growing number of people choosing to stream classical music online with the new generation website, which offers users a custom-built search engine allowing for both free-text search and filtering by pre-defined categories.

El Palau de la Música de Valencia prevé cerrar durante todo un año

Según informan medios locales, haciéndose eco de las declaraciones del Presidente del Comité de Empresa del Palau, Francisco Palomares, el Palau de la Música de Valencia tendría previsto su cierre durante todo un año, para poder acometer las reformas estructurales necesarias en sus instalaciones, con el fin de evitar el deterioro que sufre el inmueble. De un tiempo a esta parte el Palau ha sufrido la caída del techo de sus salas, tanto en la Iturbi como en la Rodrigo, esta última afectando a un área de unos 30 metros cuadrados.

The Palau de la Música in Valencia plans to close for a whole year

According to local media reports, echoing the statements of the President of the Palau Works Council, Francisco Palomares, the Palau de la Música de Valencia would be closed for an entire year, in order to undertake the necessary structural reforms in its facilities, in order to avoid the deterioration suffered by the building. For some time now the Palau has suffered the fall of the roof of its rooms, both in the Iturbi and in the Rodrigo, the latter affecting an area of about 30 square meters.
