BACK64 percent of UK musicians are considering leaving the industry, survey finds
The coronavirus pandemic has closed concert halls, cancelled performances and made many musicians have to consider their careers.
And now a staggering finding from a new survey conducted by the musician booking platform, Encore Musicians, says 64 percent of UK musicians are thinking about leaving the music business altogether.
James McAulay, Encore’s chief exec said, “we surveyed 568 musicians on Encore to measure the scale of the pandemic’s impact on them.”
“In summary: the short-term outlook is bleak,” he claimed. “The government needs to do more for musicians.”

Es hat etwas Organisches und Surreales, wirkt archaisch und gleichzeitig futuristisch, es erinnert an Waben, Kokons und ein wenig an Schweizer Käse. In den Löchern sitzen und stehen Menschen, höchstens zwei pro Loch, respektive Loge. Sie lehnen sich hinaus, streichen über die raue Textur des sie umgebenden Gebildes und blicken raus auf das Oval, das eingefasst ist von der geschwungenen Rundmauer und nun die Bühne des Frankfurter Mousonturms bildet, wie eine Arena. So kommt sich auch Matthias Pees, Intendant des Künstlerhauses, ein bisschen vor „wie ein Zirkusdirektor“. Und was er der Öffentlichkeit am Donnerstagmittag präsentiert, ist durchaus eine Attraktion.
Der Theaterraum des Mousonturms ist komplett neu gestaltet, ja regelrecht transformiert worden. Der Bau im Bau ist die Reaktion auf die Corona-Krise, die im Frühjahr das Kunst- und Theatergeschehen nahezu vollständig zum Erliegen gebracht hat – und weiterhin massiv beeinträchtigt. Die Idee war ein Logentheater, ein „leicht amorpher und atmender“ Rundbau.
Da jede Loge einen Zugang hat, „gibt es praktisch null Infektionsrisiko“, solange die einzelnen Gästepaare unter sich bleiben. Wer mit anderen Kabinen Kontakt aufnehmen will, kann ein Dosentelefon ordern und den Draht zu den Nachbarn herstellen.

Frankfurt: Lodges in the Mousonturm against the coronavirus – “practically zero risk of infection”
There is something organic and surreal about it, it seems archaic and futuristic at the same time, it is reminiscent of honeycombs, cocoons and a little bit of Swiss cheese. People sit and stand in the holes, at most two per hole or box. They lean out, stroke over the rough texture of the surrounding structure and look out onto the oval, which is enclosed by the curved circular wall and now forms the stage of the Frankfurt Mousonturm, like an arena. This is how Matthias Pees, artistic director of the Künstlerhaus, also feels a bit “like a circus director”. And what he presents to the public on Thursday afternoon is certainly an attraction.
The theatre space of the Mousonturm has been completely redesigned, even transformed. The building under construction is a reaction to the Corona crisis, which brought the arts and theatre scene to a virtual standstill in spring – and continues to have a massive impact. The idea was to create a box theatre, a “slightly amorphous and breathing” circular building.
Since every box has an entrance, “there is practically no risk of infection” as long as the individual guest couples remain among themselves. Anyone wishing to contact other cabins can order a canned telephone and establish contact with their neighbours.
432 millions d’euros pour le spectacle vivant
Une aide de 432 millions d’euros va être allouée au spectacle vivant, sur les 2 milliards du plan de relance débloqués pour le secteur de la Culture, a déclaré hier la ministre de la Culture Roselyne Bachelot à l’issue d’une rencontre avec le Premier Ministre Jean Castex et des représentants du milieu. 200 millions seront destinés au spectacle vivant public et 220 millions pour le théâtre privé. S’ajoutent plus de 100 millions qui alimenteront un nouveau mécanisme de compensation pour les pertes d’exploitation.
432 million euros for live performance
432 million euros will be allocated to the performing arts, out of the 2 billion euros of the recovery plan released for the culture sector, said Culture Minister Roselyne Bachelot yesterday at the end of a meeting with Prime Minister Jean Castex and representatives of the sector. 200 million will be earmarked for public performing arts and 220 million for private theatre. In addition, more than 100 million will go towards a new compensation mechanism for operating losses.
