Updated guidance for musicians and music teachers in England

As England emerges from its second lockdown into an updated three-tier system of regulations, the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) has published new guidance for performers and teachers. Devolved administrations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are responsible for rules covering the rest of the UK.

Schools and places of worship are open across all three tiers. In an exemption from strict rules concerning ‘bubbles’ in educational settings, peripatetic instrumental and singing teachers can move between different schools. According to the ISM’s interpretation of the regulations, face-to-face teaching is permitted.

Mailänder Scala: 26 Mio. Euro fehlende Einnahmen

Milan Scala: 26 million euros missing income

Because of the lockdown, Milan’s Scala has lost 26 million euros in ticket sales this year. This was reported by director Dominique Meyer in an interview with the Milan business newspaper “Sole 24 Ore” (Wednesday edition). “Insecurity is our biggest problem. Because of this uncertainty, planning for the season is very difficult”, says Meyer, who moved from the Vienna State Opera to La Scala in March.

It is still unclear when La Scala can reopen. “It will not be easy to get the audience back into the theatre, because people are afraid,” said the artistic director, who has been working on the programme for the new season for months.
