He was still singing a few days ago at the Paris Opera. This is rather rare, a singer still in his career is appointed to head an opera. Quebec baritone Jean-François Lapointe will take up his duties as general manager and artistic director of the Opéra de Québec. He will take office in September 2020 and succeed Grégoire Legendre, who had been in office for a quarter of a century. A few days ago, Jean-François Lapointe was on stage at the Palais Garnier as Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata. And the month it will be on display at the Capitole de Toulouse, in the role of the Marquis de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites de Poulenc.
