BACKWigmore Hall announces re-opening festival starting May 17
Wigmore Hall is to re-open to the public on May 17, following the next stage in relaxing restrictions in England taking effect.
The renowned London venue has resounded to music-making throughout much of the past year, working within the rules to offer more than 200 streamed and broadcast concerts by 360 artists, reaching over 6 millions viewers and listeners worldwide – as well as, during a previous period of lighter restrictions last year, performances to small and socially-distanced audiences.

Der Stiftungsrat und der Vorstand wählten die Künstlerin für die kommenden fünf Jahre, teilte die gemeinnützige Organisation am Montag in Bonn mit. Mutter tritt die Nachfolge von Fritz Pleitgen an. Der ehemalige WDR-Intendant hatte das Amt zehn Jahre lang inne.
„Anne-Sophie Mutter ist eine national und international bekannte Ausnahmeerscheinung, eine Frau, die Menschen nicht nur über ihre Musik, sondern vor allem auch durch ihr Einfühlungsvermögen und authentische, unkonventionelle Art begeistert“, erklärte der Stiftungsratsvorsitzende Joachim Faber.

Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter will be the new president of the German Cancer Aid. The Board of Trustees and the Executive Board elected the artist for the next five years, as the non-profit organisation announced in Bonn on Monday. Mutter will succeed Fritz Pleitgen. The former WDR director held the post for ten years.
“Anne-Sophie Mutter is a nationally and internationally renowned exceptional phenomenon, a woman who inspires people not only through her music but above all, through her empathetic, authentic, and unconventional manner,” explained Joachim Faber, Chairman of the Foundation Board.
