WildKat PR welcomes PRS for Music Foundation

Tuesday 25th January 2011

The WildKat PR team are very excited to be working with PRS for Music Foundation: the UK’s leading funder of new music across all genres.  Their ground breaking projects include the New Music Award, New Music Plus, British Music Abroad and New Music 20×12 – a programme of twenty outstanding new works, commissioned to feature centre stage of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

PRS for Music Foundation’s next project is an exciting funding opportunity for classical, jazz, pop, urban, electronica and experimental new works by women composers.  ‘Women Make Music’ encourages music organisations, festivals, ensembles, promoters and venues in the UK to present an idea for a new work by a woman composer and apply for funding for its first performance.

Offering up to £5000 funding towards the costs of each premiere, ‘Women Make Music’ aims to support women in music, boost their profiles and create a better gender balance between the number of female and male composers.  Through this scheme PRS for Music Foundation will ensure that there are exciting female role models for future generations of musicians in all genres.
