Ensemble Jupiter, founded in 2018 by lutenist Thomas Dunford, brings together a new generation of some of the brightest baroque musicians, including mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre, harpsichordist Jean Rondeau, and cellist Bruno Philippe. Together, they explore a rich repertoire ranging from Vivaldi to Händel, including Couperin as well as contemporary creations.

Acclaimed from their very first album dedicated to Vivaldi, the ensemble quickly established itself on the international scene and continues to take on ambitious projects such as Amazone, Eternal Heaven, and the upcoming Songs of Passion (2025).

Thomas Dunford, born in Paris in 1988 into a family of musicians, studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and the Schola Cantorum in Basel. Nicknamed “the Eric Clapton of the lute,” he has performed with some of the greatest baroque ensembles before founding Jupiter, where he develops an artistic vision rooted in freedom, improvisation, and high standards.

L’Ensemble Jupiter, fondé en 2018 par le luthiste Thomas Dunford, rassemble une nouvelle génération de musiciens baroques parmi les plus brillants, dont la mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre, le claveciniste Jean Rondeau et le violoncelliste Bruno Philippe. Ensemble, ils explorent un riche répertoire allant de Vivaldi à Händel, en passant par Couperin et des créations contemporaines.

Thomas Dunford, né à Paris en 1988 dans une famille de musiciens, a étudié au Conservatoire de Paris et à la Schola Cantorum de Bâle. Surnommé “l’Eric Clapton du luth”, il s’est produit avec les plus grands ensembles baroques avant de fonder Jupiter, où il développe une vision artistique fondée sur la liberté, l’improvisation et l’exigence.
