Violinist and conductor Yuval Waldman dies aged 74

Russian–Israeli violinist and conductor Yuval Waldman died on 1 February at the age of 74. An enterprising musician, tutor and co-founder of numerous festivals, he was noted for rediscovering neglected works, often composed under oppressive circumstances.

In 2004 he founded Music Bridges International, which promoted concerts and educational programmes including music from different cultures. He also performed and conducted programmes such as ‘Music of Oppression and Liberation’, featuring composers persecuted for their beliefs, and ‘Music Forgotten and Remembered’, featuring works by Eastern European Jews.

Appell des Deutschen Bühnenvereins an die Bundeskanzlerin

Der Deutsche Bühnenverein appelliert in einem Brief an die Bundeskanzlerin und die Ministerpräsidentinnen und Ministerpräsidenten, dass bei entsprechend niedriger Inzidenzzahl die Öffnung von Theatern, Museen und Konzerthäusern vorrangig ins Auge gefasst werde.

Appeal of the German Stage Association to the Federal Chancellor

In a letter to the Chancellor and the State Premiers, the German Stage Association (Bühnenverein) appeals for the opening of theatres, museums and concert halls to be considered as a priority if the incidence rate is low enough.

We are documenting the letter from the president of the Bühnenverein Carsten Brosda and the chairpersons Kathrin Mädler and Hasko Weber to the Chancellor and the state premiers.

Adrien La Marca raconte ses 21 jours de quarantaine avant un concert à Hong Kong

L’altiste Adrien La Marca, qui doit se produire à Hong Kong à la fin du mois, est contraint d’observer une quarantaine très stricte de 21 jours. Cloîtré dans sa chambre d’hôtel, il publie chaque jour depuis dimanche sur les réseaux sociaux de petits messages vidéo pour raconter, parfois en musique, son quotidien de confiné.

Adrien La Marca se produira le 28 mars avec le Hong Kong Sinfonietta. 25 000 dollars d’amende et 6 mois de prison, c’est ce que risquent Adrien La Marca et tout étranger arrivant à Hong Kong s’ils enfreignent la quarantaine de 21 jours à laquelle ils sont contraints en cette période de pandémie de Covid 19.

Adrien La Marca recounts his 21 days in quarantine before a concert in Hong Kong

Violist Adrien La Marca, who is due to perform in Hong Kong at the end of the month, is forced to observe a very strict 21-day quarantine. Cloistered in his hotel room, he has been posting small video messages every day since Sunday on social networks to tell, sometimes with music, about his confined daily life.

Adrien La Marca will perform on March 28th with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. A 25,000 fine and 6 months in prison are what Adrien La Marca and any foreigner arriving in Hong Kong risk if they breach the 21-day quarantine to which they are forced during the Covid 19 pandemic period.
