BACKABRSM Fund Backs Grassroots Projects in Haiti, Brazil, Kenya and Nicaragua
Funding from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) has been awarded to grassroots music learning projects in Haiti, Kenya, Nicaragua and Brazil.
The International Sponsorship Fund (ISF) was set up in 2012 and aims to help countries around the world buy and repair instruments, train teachers and support musical education projects.

Der Chefdirigent der Stuttgarter Philharmoniker und Generalmusikdirektor der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart, Dan Ettinger (50), wird zusätzlich Musikdirektor am Teatro di San Carlo in Neapel. Der israelische Dirigent trete den Posten in der italienischen Stadt im Januar 2023 an, teilten die Philharmoniker am Montag mit. Ettingers Stellung in Stuttgart bleibe davon „unberührt“. Der 50-Jährige und die Landeshauptstadt stimmten überein, seinen bis Sommer 2023 laufenden Vertrag um drei weitere Jahre zu verlängern, erklärte Intendantin Carolin Bauer-Rilling. Ettinger leitet die Philharmoniker seit 2015.
Conductor Ettinger to become Music Director in Naples
The chief conductor of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and general music director of the state capital Stuttgart, Dan Ettinger (50), will also become music director at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. The Israeli conductor will take up the post in the Italian city in January 2023, as the Philharmonic announced on Monday. Ettinger’s position in Stuttgart remains “unaffected” by this. The 50-year-old and the state capital agreed to extend his contract, which will run until summer 2023, by three additional years, explained artistic director Carolin Bauer-Rilling. Ettinger has led the Philharmonic since 2015.
Dans le Val d’Oise, le festival itinérant “Un temps pour elles” réhabilite des œuvres de compositrices
Du 25 juin au 1er août, le festival “Un temps pour elles” investit les châteaux de Villarceaux et de Méry-sur-Oise, ainsi que l’abbaye de Maubuisson, pour y jouer un répertoire peu connu, parfois inédit. La directrice artistique Héloïse Luzzati nous parle de cette deuxième édition du festival.
Tous les week-ends jusqu’au 1er août cet été, le festival dédié aux compositrices oubliées Un temps pour Elles prend place pour sa deuxième édition dans le Val d’Oise. Comme pour la première édition, le fil conducteur reste le même, la programmation est basée sur des recherches et lectures, déterrant des partitions et manuscrits, uniquement de compositrices.
In the Val d’Oise, the traveling festival “Un temps pour elles” rehabilitates works by women composers
From 25 June to 1 August, the “Un temps pour elles” festival is taking over the châteaux of Villarceaux and Méry-sur-Oise, as well as Maubuisson Abbey, to play a little-known, sometimes unpublished, repertoire. Artistic director Héloïse Luzzati tells us about this second edition of the festival.
Every weekend until August 1st this summer, the festival dedicated to forgotten women composers Un temps pour Elles is taking place for its second edition in the Val d’Oise. As for the first edition, the guiding thread remains the same, the programming is based on research and readings, unearthing scores and manuscripts, solely by women composers.
